Sleep has the most important place in meeting our physical and spiritual needs. Quality and average 7-8 hours of sleep will help us wake up mentally. At the same time, sleep also affects our weight.
Non-Rem Sleep
Rem sleep is one of the stages in which we have not entered. Deep sleep occurs in this phase. It constitutes 75% of sleep. The feeling of fatigue and physical damage to the body that occur during the day are treated in this phase.
First Phase
This is the phase of falling asleep. In the first stage, sleep is quite light and it seems possible to wake up immediately. In this phase, eye movement slows down and muscle mobility decreases. It rarely occurs during sleep. The brain emits theta waves.
Second Stage
It is one of the most detailed parts of sleep. Eye movement is slower than in the first stage. Theta waves continue to spread in the brain. At this stage, the person who is being woken up is not aware that he is asleep and may say that he is not asleep. It is a part that constitutes 45-55% of sleep time. The mobility in the muscles decreases slightly.
Third Stage
Sleep becomes deeper. The mobility of the muscles has decreased considerably. Instead of theta waves, it begins to emit delta waves. Slow eye movements may be seen. It constitutes 20-25% of the general sleep time. Delta waves are the lightest and most common waves. This phase can also be called slow wave sleep.
Fourth Phase
During this phase, it has been observed that the delta waves emitted by the brain increase even more. At this stage, it is very difficult to wake the sleeper from his sleep. Sleep is also quite deep in this phase. Sleepwalking and talking while the person is asleep are seen in this stage. If you try to wake the person in this stage, he will feel sleepy.
Fifth Rem Sleep
Rem sleep is the fifth stage of sleep, which is the sleep phase in which rapid eye movements occur. It is also referred to as paradoxical sleep. If you wake up during REM sleep, you can remember your dream. During this phase, the amount of our breathing, heartbeat and eye coordination increase. Rapid eye movement vision of someone in REM sleep It is possible for you to die. When you look carefully at the eyelid, you can notice that the eye moves rapidly. The dream occurs in this phase. It causes a temporary sleep paralysis by blocking brain movement functions during sleep. Rem sleep constitutes 25% of sleep.

Because REM sleep occurs with temporary sleep paralysis, so if you wake up for any reason during REM sleep, you may have difficulty moving because your body is locked.
