Is it possible to give birth after functional correction surgeries and cosmetic interventions and applications applied to the genital organs?
To answer this question correctly
1) Complete the procedure to be performed. What it is (scope, method and permanence) We need to know the time elapsed after birth
Vaginal rejuvenation procedures are often performed after birth, when the desired number of children is reached. This is an expected situation, because loosening, sagging and deformation of the vagina and the tissues around the vagina often occur after pregnancy or birth.
Some of the women have corrective surgery after congenital defects, damage or trauma, before having children. They need procedures and this group in particular is curious about how future pregnancy and birth will be affected.
Different genital correction and rejuvenation procedures affect pregnancy differently and may affect birth differently.
Labioplasty
Labioplasty (surgical or laser application) is applied to small genital or large genital lips and since it has nothing to do with the vaginal tissue, it does not change the flexibility, size and function of the vagina and is not an obstacle to vaginal birth. Since the healing process of labiaplasty is quite short, sexual intercourse is possible after four weeks. If pregnancy is planned, it is not recommended to protect and wait for a certain period of time due to the condition of labiaplasty. During pregnancy, some size change and color change (some growth, edema, color darkening) may be observed in the entire reproductive system and external genital organs. In general, these changes decrease significantly at the end of the puerperal period and almost completely disappear 6 months after birth. If labioplasty is desired after birth, it is generally appropriate to wait for about 6 weeks.
Vagina rejuvenation and tightening
Vaginal rejuvenation (laser, hyaluronic acid), non-surgical Vaginal shape correction procedures (vagina tightening with thread, filling) and Vaginoplasty (surgical vaginal tightening) are separated. These are practices that should be discussed separately.
All applications applied to the vagina do not prevent pregnancy. It is not. After laser, hyaluronic acid and filler applications, sexual life can be started and pregnancy can be started one week to ten days later. You don't have to wait any longer for pregnancy. This period after surgical vaginoplasty is six weeks.
All corrections made to the vagina may be affected depending on the weight you gained during pregnancy, general health status, the baby's weight and the amount of edema, and there may be some loosening of the tissues during pregnancy.
Since laser rejuvenation, filler and hyaluronic acid applications are temporary (about one year) effective, they lose their effect until the moment of birth and do not affect vaginal birth in any way and do not prevent normal birth.
Vagina surgical tightening and vaginal thread tightening procedures narrow the vagina with a permanent effect, but do not reduce its flexibility. The degree of damage caused by the pressure of the baby's head and the pressure of the baby's body on the surrounding tissues and organs inside the vagina during vaginal (normal) birth is mostly related to the woman's tissue characteristics (collagen structure, degree of flexibility, self-repair ability). However, loosening and damage are definitely present, whether small or large, and depend on the birth itself rather than whether vaginoplasty has been performed before. In cases of difficult birth, a large baby, tissues that are prone to stretching, a decreased degree of self-repair (chronic diseases such as diabetes, long-term use of drugs that cause tissue damage, smoking), the damage will of course increase, regardless of whether vaginoplasty is performed or not. Surgical vaginal tightening does not prevent birth, but tissue damage may occur. To avoid tissue deterioration, cesarean section after vaginoplasty may be a more logical option. Of course, it should not be forgotten that a cesarean section is a surgery and it may have its own undesirable consequences. As a final result, it would be wise to decide on the type of birth after vaginoplasty by consulting with your doctor who will perform the birth and taking into account all the pros and cons.
