The person who experiences violence in the family is more likely to be a violent adult!

Is March 8 International Working Women's Day a celebration? Or is it a commemoration of violence against women?
What has attracted my attention in recent years is that March 8, International Working Women's Day, has turned into a resistance of women to cope with violence and to be exposed to violence, rather than their resistance for equal rights. When it comes to women's day in Turkey, the first thing that comes to mind is the issue of violence against women.

Aslı Çağla Döner says: 8 March International Working Women's Day, commemorating violence against women, creates negative hypnosis for society. Instead, I believe that stories where women work hard, achieve success, improve themselves, and are open to education should be brought to the fore. The importance women give to their own development will save violence against women. Because a woman who attaches importance to her own development and change will carry this perception to the child she raises. However, I think that developing projects in which universities, non-governmental organizations and the state cooperate to rehabilitate violent people can prevent violence in society in the long run.

What is violence?

Violent behavior is a phenomenon that is learned by both men and women and is passed from generation to generation.

Violence is the result of an existing cause, we cannot solve it without investigating the reasons!

As a country, we come across news of violence against women every day. Today, unfortunately, the physical, emotional, psychological, economic and sexual violence experienced by women does not end. In the Research on Domestic Violence Against Women in Turkey conducted by the General Directorate on the Status of Women in 2009; In Turkey, 42 out of 100 women experience physical or sexual violence from their husbands or partners. I think the fact that this rate is high should direct us to understand the causes of violence. Because violence is the result of an existing cause. The causes of violence need to be investigated. We cannot solve the result without investigating the reasons.

The causes of violence against women…

When we look at the causes of violence against women, there are psychological, biological, feminist and sociological approaches. biological fact These studies generally talk about the relationship between aggressive behavior in a person and the limbic system and the temporal and frontal lobes of the brain. Psychological factors focus on the likelihood that a person who is subjected to violence in his or her family will become a violent adult. At the same time, violent behavior is common in some personality disorders. Socioeconomic factors, on the other hand, talk about economic factors and the failure to solve the problems in marriage turning into violence.

It is necessary to balance love and discipline in raising children...

Physical violence against children and women. ¸ What lies behind emotional and sexual violence is generally; education, social values and cultural understanding differences. The family's child-rearing processes also gain importance at this point. Educating a child by using violence shows the inadequacy of the parents. It is necessary to balance love and discipline in raising children. Discipline sticks if it is slow and steady, like snowfall. If it rains (heavily) in a storm, it won't hold. In other words, it is important for parents to develop consistent behavior in approaching the child.
