Erectile Dysfunction (Erection Problem)

Sexuality is one of the most important elements of our lives. Important but unsaid, hidden, unshared, unlearned and learned incorrectly. When an extraordinary situation occurs, it is as if the person who is embarrassed is in his own hands.

We have exaggerated the issue so much that we have defined the issue as power ruling over everything and falling out of power suddenly as impotence.

Actually, that's all. Simply put, the issue is blue-orange-purple governments. You take a tiny pill and then you become a ruler.

Jokes aside, the subject is really important. Research and trials have been done on the subject for centuries, various herbs, various medicines have been tried, and some of them have been really successful.

In short, we are talking about erectile dysfunction. What is dysfunction? How are organic erection problems diagnosed? What is done in the treatment? Let's briefly summarize these.

What is erectile dysfunction?

The word "impotence" has not been used in the scientific environment since 1992, because a man's loss of sexual "potency" only affects his sexual organ. It points to a complex bilateral relationship problem that may be due to different reasons, such as not being able to get an erection, but also not being able to satisfy his partner as a result of premature ejaculation or losing his desire due to his stressful life. Therefore, it would be more accurate to define this condition, which can be defined as "permanent inability to achieve and maintain an erection sufficient to allow satisfactory sexual performance", as "erectile dysfunction" or "erectile dysfunction".

The causes of erectile dysfunction are neurogenic, hormonal. It may be vascular, previous operations or psychogenic. Some systemic diseases, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, can cause organic impotence. Especially obesity affects other systemic diseases and hormone profile, causing organic impotence. Any systemic disease that affects our cardiovascular system also affects the penile vascular structure.

According to research conducted in our country, it has been determined that at least 1/3 of men over the age of 40 have mild, moderate or severe erectile dysfunction.

Diagnosis of the disease begins with the patient coming to the urologist and listening to the patient's complaints carefully. During a detailed conversation with the patient, one can guess the cause of the disease at the very beginning. Systemic diseases can be diagnosed through detailed examination, biochemical and hormonal evaluation. Penile evaluation during sleep provides detailed information about the vascular structure. With radiological evaluation, causes related to the vascular and penile anatomical structure can be revealed.

The evaluation of the vascular structure is made with color Doppler ultrasonography
