Penis Disorders (Short Penis) (Curved Penis)

The most common penis disorders in children and adults are short penis and curved penis. A short penis in children is usually detected as a buried penis. I recommend you to read my article called Buried Penis.
Short penis in adults is usually caused by excess pouch skin or pubic fat if there is no underlying epispadias or exstrophy disease. Depending on the physical examination performed on the patient, sometimes non-surgical solutions may be recommended. Exercise, diet, vacuum devices or penis extension traction devices. With this operation, the penis can lengthen around 2 cm, but during erection, the penis does not rise towards the navel and mostly remains parallel to the ground. Fat tissue injections or other methods can be used to expand the penis circumference in the same session.
In adult patients, if the penile abnormalities are not very obvious, it is recommended that they undergo psychiatric evaluation before surgical intervention.
Penile curvature in children or adults is the most common penile abnormality we see. Bending is more noticeable, especially in long penises. Penile curvatures detected before puberty must be corrected before puberty. Otherwise, penis curvature will increase even more during puberty, when penis elongation is greatest. On the other hand, penis curvature surgery performed after puberty or in adulthood will increase the likelihood of recurrent curvatures because the erection is very strong.
Penile curvature surgery is usually performed as a day surgery and the patient must be discharged with a dressing that will reduce post-operative erection. The dressing is usually removed after 48 hours and the patient is allowed to shower. The most common condition is swelling in the penis after surgery. Therefore, it is recommended to avoid sexual intercourse for 4-6 weeks. There may be no need for a compressive dressing in surgery performed on children.
