HOW TO COMMUNICATE WITH GENERATION Y CLIENTS?

Generation Y is the middle generation born between 1980 and 1999, just before the millennium. Here, I liken Generation Y very similar to Adler's middle sibling theory. This generation, which feels stuck between Generations I find Generation X to be very close to Adler's eldest sibling theory, and Generation Z to the youngest sibling theory. If we touch on these a little bit;

Generation X are those born between 1965-1979. This generation is the generation that the elderly and family elders love the most and find close to themselves. It is a patient generation that grew up with rules, does not fail to respect authority, and attaches great importance to loyalty and diligence. As I just said, it overlaps with Adler's eldest sibling theory. These ; ''He was usually born in the center of attention. He is the first child of the family and the most attention is given to him. But this situation ends with the birth of a new sibling. Now the attention is directed to the new baby and he has lost his uniqueness. The new baby has stolen the love she is used to, and she must get used to sharing it. The arrival of the first child coincides with the immaturity period of the spouses. The first pregnancy and first birth are the most exciting events for spouses. This first product of marriage is met with the highest expectations. Spouses tend to see their first child as an example of themselves. In addition to this drawback, the importance given to the first child and the close attention shown by the parents may render the misconceptions arising from immaturity unimportant.'' (Yörükoğlu, 2003)

Again, Generation He tends to strive to be the one. When a sibling steps onto the stage, he finds himself outside the center of attention. He is no longer the only one or the example. He is ready to believe that the newcomer, as an uninvited guest, is taking away the love he is accustomed to.'' (Corey, 2008)

Our generation Z is those born in 2000 and later. The oldest is 16 years old. Generation Z is very close to Adler's youngest sibling. ''He is always the apple of the family's eye, he never grows up. The family doesn't think highly of him either. your family He does not have to share his attention with others. He is always the doll of the family and can be spoiled all the time. The environment always treats him as a cute little child. This situation may cause the child to develop self-centered attitudes. When he grows up, he thinks that those around him should always pay attention to him. These children are wanted to remain children for a long time. Discipline has become more relaxed. He gets almost everything he wants. In short, a good environment has been created for the "selfish and spoiled" person to grow up. There is no reason why he should not use his situation to his own advantage.'' (Yörükoğlu, 2003)

In other words, generation We can also say that it has become a generation.
Meanwhile, Generation Y, who has difficulty in establishing balance, refuses to be obedient like Generation X or self-centered like Generation Z. This paves the way for imbalances in one's own mood. It is criticized by Generation X for disrespect and by Generation Z for being underdeveloped. These age differences are very similar to the jealousies and differences of three brothers who are jealous of each other. In this respect, it can be described as the sibling jealousy of the masses.

If we look at the Y generation through the lens, we can say that this generation is generally the rebellious generation that gets married and divorced quickly before finding itself, and cannot be easily chained. The issue that Generation Y, a generation with a highly developed sense of justice, experiences the most conflict with is rights and justice, just like the middle sibling. They use this not by using social media as a communication tool like Generation Z, but to make their voice heard and shout out in the name of rights and justice. They want flexible working hours, they do not obey quickly like Generation X, they oppose, shout and rush to establish their own business because they are fond of their freedom. At the same time, they are ready to have fun, to walk for justice, to equality between men and women, and to all modern and beautiful changes. They are often envied by Generation X and are generally considered disrespectful for their actions. they are resurrected. We can say that Generation Z is more compatible with Generation X in many respects.

I think the way to communicate with generation Y is to understand this feeling of stuckness. If we want to avoid having problems communicating with this generation, I think we can achieve this by trying to understand their characteristics and the problems they experience. Again, by trying to help them resolve the internal conflicts they experience as they try to balance between X and Z; I think we can exist alongside Generation Y to support them by communicating without judging their unbalanced and competitive sides.

X,Y and Z are the generations shaped by the environment presented to them and they deserve neither to be criticized mercilessly nor to have articles written about them. I think that the brotherhood of generations, like Adler's sibling theory, can be better understood if viewed on the basis of jealousy. With each passing day, the envy of the elderly towards the young increases a little more; because each generation is a little more free, a little luckier, and strives to get what they deserve, this is clearly visible. I hope this jealousy will end as soon as possible and much healthier generations will grow up. Expert Psk. Fatma EFE
