It is a method based on visual perception in which the general movements of babies in the first 5 months of age are recorded with a video camera for at least 20-30 minutes while they are awake and calm and evaluated by certified experts who have received training on this subject.
Young It occurs automatically by the human brain in the form of motor movement patterns internally, without any sensory stimulus. The strongest early neurological finding of the healthy human brain is the ability to spontaneously move. Movement patterns are called different names in different age ranges.
Writhing Movements
The normal movement pattern from term age to the 2-month period is called writhing movements. Movements occur in the form of ellipses at medium speed and amplitude.
Poor Repertoire
It is the movement pattern that defines the decrease in movement ability and diversity until the 2nd month after birth. In this pattern, movements occur repetitively.
Cramp Syncronised
It means that the ability to spontaneously move is pathological until the 2nd month after birth. In this pattern, limb and trunk movements start and end at the same time. Observing cramp syncronise movements in evaluations at different times has a high predictive value for cerebral palsy.
Fidgety Movements
Fidgety movements resemble the normal movement pattern in the 3-5 month postpartum period. It is called. Movements consist of fidgeting in the neck, shoulders, hips and extremities. Movements are varied and fluid. Observation of this movement pattern indicates 92% normal development
Absent Fidgety
The absence of fidgety movements in the 3-5 month postnatal period is called absent fidgety. The variety and fluency of movements has decreased. Fidgeting movements have been replaced by movements resembling isolated joint movements. Observation of this movement pattern in different evaluations has a high significance for cerebral palsy and mental retardation.
