Why Do People Need Psychological Support?

For many years, people have been hesitant about going to a psychologist because it was called 'insanity'. In fact, it was mostly driven by pressure and people did not want this situation to spread and be heard by the people around. But today, with the development of science and education, people's thoughts have changed and the need for this field has become important. Today, many health problems are seen as the source of psychological problems. It is now explained how the difficult processes that people experience in their lives affect their minds and bodies, as a result of psychological accumulation. The emotions and feelings they experience cause their daily life energies to decrease over time, the inability to make healthy decisions, negative self-perceptions develop and the level of enjoyment of life decreases, however, the social life and relationships of the person are interrupted. These negative developments greatly affect mental health negatively. Psychology; It helps people to make sense of their feelings-thoughts-behaviors and to find the root causes. With this type of professional understanding, a psychologist helps them gain insight into improving their stress management and behavior based on understanding past behavior. Consciousness and unconsciousness of people always work actively, but we continue our life without knowing what our brain stores and deletes, what it stores and accumulates. Many events that we think we are not affected spiritually can have traumatic results. As time passes, our body responds to what it has accumulated. For example, panic disorders, partial paralysis, long-term headaches, and many unexplained illnesses are linked to psychology. Especially in cases such as Depression, we have difficulty in adapting in daily life, which seriously affects our quality of life. It is known that there are psychological problems in its basis.

The answer to the question of why we need a psychologist is only when two people talk to each other. It is not a recommended structure. It is not just an environment where superficial problems are revealed. We need to be mentally healthy just as much as we need to be physically healthy. Here, the goal in psychological counseling is definitely not a support process for the client to become dependent on his psychologist or to change the people around him. For this reason, it is not the psychologist's directing the person, but helping the person to make individual discoveries about his/her life. The aim of psychological support is to identify the root of the main problems that cause the person to apply to a psychologist and to enable the person to gain the necessary skills and insight about the way to overcome this situation when faced with the same situation.
