The most important point in self-esteem is to appreciate the child's abilities and achievements. If this is done by an adult who is especially valuable to the child, there will be positive developments in self-esteem. The child also learns to know and trust himself by highlighting the difficulties experienced by adults and the obstacles he must overcome.
The child shapes his attitudes, behaviors and views according to those around him in his life experiences at an early age. Underlying this is the need to be liked and accepted. That's why parents' unconditional positive view is important, because it is a determined expression of their value to children. With unconditional attachment, parents must distinguish between their children's personal values and actions. In the face of inappropriate behavior of the child, the child should be able to show that he condemns this behavior, but the child will feel that his personal values are not damaged and that the love given to him by the parent continues.
In this way, the child's self-esteem will not be damaged at the same time.
To evaluate one's own self-esteem; It is important to recognize and accept the view he directs towards himself and his behavior, the self-criticism he makes regarding his existence and the consequences of his actions, and the feelings he experiences about the consequences of his actions. Throughout the development of the child, the influence of the mother and father gradually decreases and is replaced by the influence of friends and society.
The child keeps distance from his/her parents in order to take part in social life. A school-age child prepares himself to accustom himself to the environment and integrate with it. Thanks to the development of logical thinking, the child has a much different and positive judgment.
