Dental anxiety; It is defined as thinking that terrible events will occur during dental treatment and feeling of loss of control due to anxiety.

Dental fear, on the other hand, is stressful emotional reactions to stimuli that occur during dental procedures.

5-12 years old; They perceive concepts as simple and are very curious. They can think logically and are curious about the tools used. It should be explained to this age group in a language they can understand, interesting devices should be explained if the child is curious, and praising speeches should be made to the child.

12-18 years; Since it is the period when almost all functions in a person's body change, the young person is also in the process of developing his/her unique identity. It should establish a foundation of trust with the person and provide cognitive instruction about how long the treatment will last, what procedure will be performed, and the doctor's approach. It should also not be forgotten that some traumas occur at a young age and can cause dental anxiety and fear in adulthood.

Help should be sought in this regard and the person should be aware of the causes of dental anxiety.

 

Reasons of dental anxiety and fear:

-Avoiding dental treatment,

-Not paying attention to dental hygiene and avoiding because the mouth is seen by a stranger (doctor),

-Painful dental treatment,

-The child is young and not old enough and strong enough to withstand dental treatment.

-Gender-related differences (more common in girls).

-Antisocial personalities have a stranger (doctor) entering their borders,

-Fear of contamination with germs in those who are obsessed with food issues,

-Panicattack, (fear of dying, idea of ​​being trapped somewhere, loss of control) don't think that someone else has it) etc. can be counted.
