Transplanting a new organ instead of an organ that cannot fulfill its function for various reasons is called Organ Transplantation.
Organ Transplantation is divided into two today, depending on the organ to be transplanted.
– Donor made from a Living Donor. Organ Transplants
– Organ Transplants from a Cadaver (Dead)
Organ Transplants from a Living Donor
Organ Transplants from a Living Donor There are certain conditions for organ transplants to take place legally in our country. First of all, an approval decision taken from the "Ethics Committee", which investigates and examines whether there is a requirement to be a relative up to the 4th degree or any financial interest relationship.
After this, medical research and examinations begin and in this process;
– All health checks of the Organ Donor Person are examined with many tests and examinations to see whether organ donation will pose any risk to this person's health in the future.
– At the same time, the organ recipient's blood, tissue and organ compatibility is examined. tissue and blood values are compared and the risk of organ rejection after transplantation is investigated.
Organ Transplants from Cadaver (Dead)
The so-called Transplantation from Cadaver ; There are certain procedures and rules that are followed in transplants from people who are brain dead (i.e. dead).
First of all, the person in intensive care who has brain death must be diagnosed with Brain Death by specialist physicians.
This diagnosis is made. After the patient's organs are donated, permission must be obtained from at least 2 first-degree relatives.
While the organs of the person whose organs are allowed to be donated are removed in order to keep them alive for a longer period of time under suitable conditions; By taking tissue and blood samples, histocompatibility matching and transplant priority ranking of patients previously registered in the National Tissue System. A list of primary and reserve recipient candidates is determined among the patients who can reach the hospital where the brain-dead patient is currently located. And patients are immediately asked to reach the hospital where the relevant transplant will take place.
After this stage, final tests and checks are performed and a committee determines who will receive the organs. Start the transfer process without wasting time
Cross Transplantation
Unfortunately, in our country, saving the life of their spouse or relative is one of the biggest obstacles to patients who want to live a better quality life for a longer time and donate their organs to their loved ones. One of them is tissue-blood incompatibility.
In order to solve this problem, a method is applied for the first time in Turkey by my team:
What is Cross Transplantation?
If your blood and tissues are not compatible with the relative to whom you want to donate your organ, you will be matched with another Organ Donor-Donor pair who is in the same situation as you and cannot be transplanted. The donor becomes Life for your loved one. Likewise, while the person waiting for an organ from the other Donor-Receiver pair cannot receive an organ from their own relative, the organ taken from your donor is implanted into that person and their life is saved.
Thus, 2 or more families who cannot give their organs to their loved ones and cannot receive them from their loved ones, that is, cannot receive Organ Transplantation. ; Organ Transplantation is achieved by transplanting organs taken from donors that are very compatible with each other to recipients who will live much longer and healthier.
Advantages of Organ Transplantation
– The person will live longer. and live a quality life.
Every year, 2500 - 3000 people die because organ transplantation does not occur.
– People with organ transplants can consume whatever they want.
– Less. Since they are not hospitalized and/or dialysis, they have a good social life and can work regularly.
– Their other organs are not damaged due to organ failure, and they are immune to concomitant diseases.
– In organ failure. Since the body does not function properly, it grows and develops less than healthy people. With organ transplantation, the body continues its development from where it left off.
