What is EMDR?
The Turkish abbreviation of the technique, whose English abbreviation is EMDR, is Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing.
This method works especially with trauma. and is used by therapists trained in EMDR. Earthquake,

- Torture,
- Harassment -rape
Individuals who have been exposed to traumatic life events such as rape may develop post-traumatic stress disorder after the event they experienced.
The event cannot be processed and stored in a healthy way in the person's mind. On the contrary, it remains locked without being processed, like a block of ice. This causes the person to experience the same emotional intensity over and over again every time he remembers that event.
In addition, he may also develop negative beliefs about himself. Like I'm worthless, I'm inadequate, I'm helpless, I don't deserve to be loved...
With EMDR, the person becomes desensitized to that memory and that memory is reprocessed and stored in a healthy way.
In this way, the person remembers that event or memory. He continues to remember, but when he remembers, he does not find himself in negative emotions and thoughts. In other words, this technique does not erase unwanted or disturbing memories from the person's mind, but the important thing is not to delete them.
The important thing is that these memories maintain their place in the person's mind as an ordinary/neutral memory and that the person can continue his life in its normal flow.
Hoping that it will go away over time, expecting that it will reduce its effect, is just a defense mechanism that the person uses to deceive himself or get over it.
Consulting a specialist to get support with the right treatment methods is the first step to be taken.
