My Nose Itches…

Our nose becomes very sensitive during seasonal transitions, and from time to time it causes difficult times with the complaints it causes.
Diagnosis is made if 2 or more of the symptoms of allergic rhinitis, namely hay fever, nasal congestion, runny nose, sneezing and nasal itching, are observed. and is the most common allergic disease in our society. Its incidence is 10-20%.
Allergic rhinitis can start at any age, and its incidence increases if there is a family history of allergy.
Under normal conditions, our immune system gives a defensive response against any substance that enters our body. If this response is greater than normal, an allergic response occurs and allergic diseases begin to recur.
Which substances taken into our body act as allergens and cause reactions?
1- Pollen: Generally, in the spring, pollen and trees most often cause allergies.
2- Foods: Eggs, strawberries, tomatoes, hazelnuts, peanuts, fish, soy sauce.
3- Mold spores, fungi: Especially found in soil, dust and seeds.
4 - Irritating odors: Perfume, smoke, tobacco, diesel fuel
5- House dust and mites: These are the substances that most frequently cause allergic responses in children. They are invisible creatures and cause allergic diseases by damaging the respiratory tract.
6- Animal dander: Cat, dog

In children who show allergic reactions, the potential for an allergic response called atopy in the family should be investigated first. A detailed physical examination should then be performed. Mostly, allergy tests are performed by blood sampling in children. Skin prick tests performed on the skin are also applied after a certain age.
However, the most useful and guiding test is the observation of parents on their children. If we see an allergic response after the foods our children consume, during seasonal changes, or after contact with irritating substances, and if this response repeats with the same substance, it is the most important diagnostic criterion. If we have detected any situation that causes an allergic reaction, and if we see the same allergic reaction when we encounter the same substance again, it means that we are allergic to this substance. We must ensure protection by trying to stay as far away from the allergenic substance we detect as possible.
Allergy treatment lasts for a long time. n is a process. Follow-up must be ensured under medical supervision.
