Diabetes is one of the most important health problems on the world's agenda and is showing a rapid increase along with other chronic diseases all over the world. Our country is also faced with the DIABETES EPIDEMIC, one of the biggest health problems in history. The prevalence of diabetes has increased by 80-100% in ten years. Turkey is one of the countries where diabetes is increasing most rapidly today. The most important reason for this is the lifestyle, sedentary life brought by developing technology, stress, loss of traditional nutrition and malnutrition. Increasingly widespread fast food, increase in sugary food consumption, and a lifestyle away from sports lead to a rapid increase in diabetes.
In Turkey, nutrition and physical activity issues are focused on in order to prevent diabetes, protect the society from diabetes, early diagnosis, prevent the progression of diabetes and protect from complications.
A significant part of the society does not know diabetes and is not aware of the dangers associated with the most important predisposing risk factors of diabetes (sedentary life and malnutrition).
Our aim on World Diabetes Day, November 14, is to raise the perception and awareness of diabetes.
Preventing type 2 diabetes with lifestyle changes and pharmacological treatments is seen as a cheap, easy method that can be applied on a social scale.
According to the results of the TURDEP 2 study, the frequency of diabetes increased by 90% and latent diabetes increased by 110%. we know. In Denizli, the prevalence of diabetes is 15.7%, which is higher than the Türkiye average. The people of Denizli are in a good state in terms of diabetes awareness, but treatment and follow-up are inadequate in terms of diabetes-related complications. Type 2 Diabetes is a preventable disease. WE KNOW that just 150 minutes of exercise a week (brisk walking for 30 minutes a day for 5 days) reduces the development of diabetes by 40%.
LET'S PROTECT OUR FUTURE FROM DIABETES. THE FIRST GOAL AT THE NATIONAL LEVEL IS THE DEVELOPMENT OF PROPER NUTRITION HABITS SOCIALLY.
