What is CAS?

CAS, developed by Naglieri and Das, who argue that the measurement of intelligence is based on the evaluation of cognitive processes, is a system used to evaluate cognitive processes.

CAS; It is a system that can evaluate areas such as intelligence assessment, learning disabilities, attention assessment, and planning problems.

It is applied to individuals between the ages of 5-17. Individuals; It is evaluated in 4 basic areas: Planning, Attention, Simultaneous and Successive Cognitive Processes.

CAS provides information about the part that needs to be studied by referring to the cause of the existing situation. In summary, it reveals in which areas individuals are successful and what they need to be supported about. It sheds light on the problem he has with his learning. It achieves this by making measurements in various areas as mentioned below. These are:

For a child who is thought to be falling behind his/her peers in learning, it reveals the reason for this situation. It provides information about the areas to be studied in order to support school success. As mentioned above, cognitive processes that need to be developed are determined by providing various information about many areas such as selective focusing, strategic thinking skills, short-term memory, forgetting, remembering, focusing on the whole. Following this evaluation, the individual is supported with a work program tailored to his/her needs. This program is planned based on the PASS theory, which is the basis of the test.

CAS evaluation takes an average of 75 minutes, so it is important that the individual's physiological needs (eating, toilet, etc.) are met.
