We are in front of the computer every day in the office or at home, but what about our eyes?
Nowadays, almost everyone in an active working life spends a large part of the day in front of computer monitors.
I wonder if this has any effect on our eye health. Does it have a negative effect?
Situations that require attention, such as driving for a long time, watching an exciting movie, or working on the computer for a long time, reduce the frequency of our blinking. The decrease in our blinking frequency also causes the tears on the cornea to dry out. This causes dry eyes. Dry eyes also cause symptoms such as redness, burning, itching and premature eye fatigue. We even feel the need to close our eyes, which may even cause us to fall asleep early.
Do Computer Monitors Emit Radiation?
In scientific studies and research, computer and tablet screens contain ionizing or non-ionizing levels that may harm the eyes. No radiation could be detected.
I am using a computer and my head hurts badly…
Our eyes may go into an adaptation spasm after a while due to constantly focusing on the same point due to using the computer in the same position for long hours. Headaches and pain around the eyes may occur due to the eye constantly adjusting. To prevent this situation, we need to turn our head from the monitor and look away every 15-20 minutes. If we still have headaches despite doing these, then we may have an eye disorder. Eye disorders that are not treated with glasses or contact lenses cause constant pain in the head and around the eyes. For this reason, if we are faced with such a situation, we should have an eye examination immediately…
How should an ideal monitor be used?
The computer monitor is a little further away (about 40 cm) than the normal reading distance (about 40 cm). should be approximately 65 -70 cm). The top edge of the monitor should be at or slightly below eye level. Our study room should not be too bright. We can reduce the dryness of our eyes by blinking consciously. Headaches and other eye complaints can also be eliminated by detecting eye disorders and using appropriate glasses and lenses.
