The Internet is one of the most important needs of the information age we live in, but this use, in addition to the benefits it provides, also brings with it the risk of abuse and addiction. So, how do we understand that a person has Internet addiction?
In order to clearly understand that Internet Addiction is a disorder, the symptoms of this disorder must be explained. If an individual shows 3 or more of the following symptoms for 12 months, this person is considered to have Internet Addiction.
*Increased duration of current use compared to when he first started using the Internet.
*Internet Addiction. The person withdraws from social life or becomes withdrawn when he is not connected
*Risking his education, job or career opportunity because of Internet use
*Lying to his family and friends in order to spend more time on the Internet, isolating himself/herself and moving away from them
*Seeing internet use as an escape from real life problems
*Feeling restless and getting angry more quickly when the person tries to cut down on internet use or reduce the time he/she spends
>*Inability to control internet use
If the individual shows the symptoms described above in less than 12 months, he is not called 'Addict'.
