Heredity and Hypertension

Heredity is of great importance, especially in hypertension of unknown cause. However, it should not be forgotten that many risk factors play a role in the development of high blood pressure. There is no such thing as hypertension in people whose parents have high blood pressure.

The genetic mechanisms in hypertension are very complex. Although a great deal of research has been done on it, it is not yet fully understood. It should always be kept in mind that taking precautions is very important, keeping in mind that there is a higher risk of high blood pressure in people whose parents have hypertension.

One of the questions that comes to mind is which of the parents contributes more to the occurrence of high blood pressure. Studies show that fathers' contribution to the development of hypertension is higher than mothers'. The contribution of high blood pressure seen in second-degree relatives such as uncles, aunts, grandparents, etc. is not significant. If high blood pressure is seen in both parents at an early age, the likelihood of developing it in children may increase.

Now another question will come to your mind: If a person's parents have high blood pressure, it is inevitable for this person to have high blood pressure. Let this person eat and drink as he wishes, there will be tension anyway, what is the need to take precautions!

That's not the case. We said that many factors play a role in hypertension. In addition to heredity, environmental factors gain importance. Environmental factors play a big role in when high blood pressure occurs. If you eat, drink, consume too much salt and alcohol, and gain weight, high blood pressure occurs early in people like you. But if you pay attention to these and take the necessary precautions, the tension will come out later and the possibility of damage will be reduced. This means that there is no need to despair because your parents have high blood pressure; it is in your hands to delay or partially prevent hypertension.
