What is Patch Test?
It is an allergy test used to detect some skin allergies. It allows to distinguish which of the substances that come into contact with the skin causes allergies.
How and where is the patch test performed?
Small boxes containing the suspected substances are attached to your back or the inside of your arm. These
substances remain in contact with your skin for 48 hours. After 48 hours, the substances are removed and the response is evaluated by your
doctor. It is evaluated once again 48 hours after the first evaluation and allergy, if any, is determined. This test can be applied in dermatology and allergy clinics in hospitals.
Who can have a patch test?
If allergies are suspected in people who frequently develop eczema on their skin, this test can be applied.

shampoos, shower gels, cleaning materials, fragrances, nickel, leather clothes and shoes, etc. Many

What should I avoid during and before the test?
For 48 hours during which the substances come into contact with your skin and for the next 48 hours during which the test is applied. You should not wash the
area. You should avoid excessive sweating and friction because substances may not contact the skin sufficiently.
What is a prick test, how is it done?
Prick test is a test that allows testing of substances to which a person has a Type I allergy. . It is useful in conditions such as atopic
dermatitis, allergic rhinitis-asthma-conjunctivitis. It gives clues about urticaria (hives) in a small number of patients. Especially respiratory allergens and food allergies can be detected
with this test.
After a superficial scratch is made on the skin (at a level that does not bleed), it is read from the skin whether it reacts to the dropped allergen or not.
