How Valuable is Our Health?

“It's either your life or your property,” old-time bandits used to say when starting a robbery. Our ancestors say in the proverb, “Wealth is the price of life.” So, what do the healthy and sane people of our country think? What does he do?

In the countryside, a veterinarian is more valuable than a doctor. Because for a head of a family in a village, the order is usually as follows: the most valuable thing in the house is the goods that provide a source of income (cows, sheep, lambs…), then tools, then children (priority is the son, there is no need to worry too much about the daughters). It is his wife (he should not refrain from serving), and lastly he is himself. In this regard, the priority is to bring sick family members to the health center. If possible, money should not be spent on human health; the repair of the tractor is more essential and a priority.

Although the order partially changes as you move from the countryside to the city, the perspective does not change: the budget and time allocated for health are a waste. All the mind is used for business: business must be enlarged, money must be hoarded. If there is leftover time (which is often not the case in metropolitan cities), it is partially spent on the family, and there is no special time, budget, project, etc. reserved for oneself. Money cannot be avoided when taking a car for maintenance/repair, but in the existing mentality, the idea of "regular maintenance will make the car get a premium when selling it and will make more money" is at the forefront rather than the idea of "it carries life, it is important for human life". The measures taken are to protect property, measures to be taken for life are a waste, a waste of money.

This is why the concept of "preventive health services" is not functional in my beloved hometown. Diseases are detected in their final stages, after the patient becomes an advanced case. There is usually no chance of early diagnosis and treatment. In cases of cancer, treatment is tied as a result of the recent diagnosis. In cases of depression, the patient dies by suicide, and those left behind are heartbroken.

Doctors always say what needs to be done for early diagnosis of diseases, but are they taken into account? How many women do we have in our country who have their breasts examined by a doctor every 2-3 years between the ages of 20 and 40, and every year over the age of 40, as a precaution against breast cancer? Or how many men at age 50 and beyond need to be diagnosed with prostate cancer early? Has he consulted a doctor for a prostate examination? How many of our citizens have had a cardiological check-up after the age of 40? What is the frequency of our citizens who, instead of receiving psychotherapeutic support to solve their problems, say "I can handle it myself" and experience depressive processes over time (after getting sick, the arrow leaves the bow and long-term treatment processes begin, the financial and moral burden increases)? It is possible to increase the examples. In your opinion, “how valuable is our health?”.
