It is very important that you learn to self-examine. Because you are in the risk group of oral cancers. By examining yourself regularly, you can catch the early signals of oral cancers and ensure that the disease is diagnosed at an early stage before it progresses.

Pay attention to the following,
Face, neck and mouth within two weeks. wounds that do not heal,
Lumps that occur on the lips, gums or other areas inside the mouth,
Regional color differences in the mouth that are white, red or dark,
Recurrent bleeding inside the mouth,
Numbness or decreased sensation or pain in the mouth or neck area.

You can perform this examination as follows:
1- Head and neck:
Look at your face and neck in the mirror. The right and left sides of the face have the same shape. Check for swelling or deformities that disrupt symmetry on one side of the face or neck.

2- Face:
Examine the skin of your face. Is there any burning, tissue growth or color and size change?

3- Neck:
Press the sides and front of your neck with your finger. Is there an area where you feel pain or where there are lumps?

4- Lips:
Examine your lower and upper lips with your thumbs and index fingers, see if there is a change in the texture, inside. Check if there are any lumps or bumps inside. Open your lower lip and check if there is any burning or discoloration on the inside.

5- Cheeks:
Open your cheeks with your fingers and look inside, look for red, white or dark colored spots. . Examine your cheeks from the inside and outside with the help of your fingers.

6- Palate:
Tilt your head back and open your mouth wide to check your palate. Look for any change in color or swelling. par Check if there is a painful or swollen area by moving your fingers on your palate.

7- Floor of the mouth and tongue:
Check your tongue from every angle. Check if there is any swelling or color change, or any change in the underlying tissue.

Any change in your mouth that does not go away in 2 weeks and that you think is abnormal can be dangerous. Consult your dentist or doctor.
