How Should We Act When Our Children Get Angry?

- New pandemic measures are added every day to prevent the spread of the epidemic. These new decisions and measures taken affect business life, social daily life, as well as our family life. - As a result of curfew restrictions and the suspension of face-to-face education in schools, family members now spend much more time with each other at home. Although spending long periods of time together in the same house initially increases the commitment and sharing between family members, as the time spent at home increases, things start to move in the opposite direction. - As the time we stay at home increases, the tolerance levels of spouses towards each other and parents towards their children decrease, Conversations turn into arguments and shouting.
-So, isn't there a solution to this situation?
-Of course, there is a solution. If we use correct and healthy communication methods, express our feelings and thoughts without blaming or judging the other person, create boundaries and rules at home together with all family members, and if these rules are accompanied by a regular daily routine at home, our chances of achieving a peaceful family environment will increase.
- In this article, I would like to give a few suggestions to parents about how they should behave during their children's tantrums.
(When your child gets angry; )
1-) Try to Find the Reason
'First of all, your child has a physiological pain or suffering. , make sure there is no problem. Because children do not always have tantrums because of stubbornness. Maybe he is hungry, sleepless or upset about something.'

2-) Stay Calm and Determined
'When your child has a tantrum, try to stay calm and cool. Responding to anger with anger is the biggest mistake you can make. Your calm and cool-headedness makes it easier for your child to calm down. If, after explaining the situation to your child, he/she still becomes stubborn and wants to get what he/she says by continuing to cry and behave aggressively, stay calm and do not give up on your decision. This determination also strengthens your consistent parenting role.'
3-) Try to Understand Him
'If you don't know why your child is having a tantrum, what is causing your child? Ask him why he is angry, why he is crying, and listen to his answers sincerely, make him feel that you are listening. If he does not answer your questions, do not be persistent and wait for him to calm down. - REMEMBER: The purpose of asking and listening to your child why he is angry is; It is not about fulfilling your wishes. It is to show him that you love him and care about him.
