The person persistently analyzes the thoughts. He finds these thoughts dangerous and attributes meaning to them; He tries to suppress it, tries to distract himself, or constantly analyzes why he came and what it means. And hence these unwanted thoughts; It starts to come more frequently and becomes more persistent and sticky.
HOW DO WE TREAT?
OCD is not a disorder that goes away on its own. That's why it's important to get treated. The best treatment method is medication and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT):
It is a conversation-based psychotherapy method based on scientific data and learning theories. . The goal of this therapy method is to help people with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder face their fears and relieve anxiety without performing their repetitive behaviors. to ensure its reduction. This therapy also focuses on reducing exaggerated or catastrophic thoughts, which are frequently seen in people with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
In other words, it works with both obsessive thoughts and repetitive behaviors. The patient is given regular practice assignments and is interviewed once a week for follow-up.
As with any disease, the client first needs to want to get better, believe in the treatment, and consistently implement the treatment plan.
