  • Fish Containing Mercury
  • Fish containing high levels of mercury should be avoided during pregnancy. Scientific research has shown that there is a link between consuming foods containing mercury during pregnancy and developmental delays and brain damage in the baby. Apart from fish containing high mercury, fish caught from lakes or streams whose waters are known to be polluted should also be avoided. For this reason, when purchasing fish, extensive research should be done and products that are sure to be reliable should be preferred.

     

  • Shellfish
  • Oysters, mussels. , shrimp and other shellfish should not be consumed during pregnancy, especially in raw or undercooked form. Raw seafood salmonella bacteria can produce salmonella and cause poisoning.

     

  • Undercooked or Raw Eggs
  • Pregnant women who consume raw eggs or foods containing raw eggs may be infected with salmonella. They may be exposed to bacteria. Salmonella bacteria can cause various intestinal infections, diarrhea and food poisoning.

  • Herbal Teas
  • Soothing and stimulating the intestines. and herbal teas that offer detox effects may cause various complaints during pregnancy. All pregnant women should consult their gynecologist before consuming herbal teas. Drinking herbal teas because they are said to taste good or be beneficial can increase uterine contractions, trigger premature birth and cause bleeding. It is known that especially sage tea, flaxseed tea, licorice tea, senna tea, aloe vera tea or mixed herbal teas containing these plants are harmful to pregnant women.
