Ways to Protect Your Mental Health

Even now, hundreds and thousands of people in the world are exposed to negative experiences and traumas, and they are affected by these experiences to a greater or lesser extent. Now, I will talk about a few easily applicable methods that you can do to protect your mental health.

1- Physiological Health

One of the factors affecting psychological health is our physical health. There is a reason why our elders say health first. Well, did you know that psychological and physiological health can affect each other? For example, if thyroid hormones are outside the required levels, this will cause changes in your mood and affect your psychological health. If you constantly feel unhappiness and fatigue, this may be due to your hormones. You can determine the cause of the problem by going to a health institution and undergoing the necessary checks.

2- Breathing Exercises

    You must have heard the term breathing exercise. So, do you know how you can do it? Now I will briefly talk about a small but very effective technique. This technique is one of the techniques we recommend most, especially when we are angry about a negative experience. I plan to explain how you can manage anger management in my future articles.

    First of all, close your eyes and count to 3 while continuing to breathe through your nose. After holding your breath for 2 seconds, count to 3 again while exhaling through your mouth. You can repeat this 3 times.

    You can apply this easy technique when you are angry or anxious.
 

3- Spend Time with the People You Love

    When you are with people we do not like throughout life or when you are around them. We may have to be with people we don't feel good with. For example, our colleagues, neighbors and sometimes even relatives…

    En If you at least try to be with people you love and feel good with in your free time, you will feel happier, more peaceful and purified.

In addition, it is very important to take care to do the activities you love and enjoy. Being able to spend at least a few hours a week on activities that you enjoy will be one of the small favors you can do for yourself.

4- Dreams and Goals

    Dreaming is good for most people and gives hope. But it is important not to confuse dreams and goals. You can be as free as you want when it comes to dreams, because even if you know they cannot come true, thinking about them can make you feel good.

Goal is the state of your dreams that can be realized by supporting them with an action plan. The most important thing that will motivate us is the right source of motivation. Motivation refers to the inner power that is most necessary for a person to take action. So, how can you determine your goal yourself? First of all, you need to become aware of your own abilities and skills and be able to determine the goals you can achieve based on these abilities. Afterwards, in order to reach that goal, it will be inevitable to clarify the steps and approach your goal step by step within a program.
