MY CHILD WALKS ON TIP!
Toe walking is a very common condition in toddlers and we usually see improvement by the age of 2, but of course in some cases, toe walking is a common condition. It may be permanent.
If your child occasionally walks on his toes, but most of the time he walks on his heel, we do not worry about this. This situation does not indicate any problem and can also be seen in normal children.
However, children who are observed to walk on tiptoe almost all the time after the age of 2 should definitely be seen by a specialist doctor. During the examination, it becomes clear whether this condition is due to a disease.
Tip-toe walking and unilateral walking in older children are signs of a neurological disease such as Cerebral Palsy.
Permanent toe walking in an otherwise healthy child is treated with serial casting. If the condition is advanced, it requires surgical treatment.
Another condition that causes tiptoe walking is Achilles tendon shortening, and its treatment begins with serial casting. If this treatment does not respond, the solution is surgical methods.
