PHIMOSIS
Phimosis, by definition, is the skin fold of the foreskin (preputium) that covers the penis, and the glans penis. ) It is a situation where it cannot be pulled backwards because the opening that fits the top is narrow. It can be seen in a significant portion of boys at young ages. Most newborns have natural phimosis due to natural adhesions found between the foreskin and glans. When the foreskin is pulled back, it does not come back completely and it looks like a blooming flower. In pathological phimosis, the foreskin hole is scarred and therefore there is stenosis in the foreskin and sometimes swelling due to edema. While the need to treat natural phimosis with circumcision is controversial, pathological phimosis should definitely be treated with circumcision.

When diagnosing phimosis, it is not enough that the prepuce cannot be retracted. There are complaints such as the diameter of the opening in the foreskin being narrower than 0.5 cm and the foreskin ballooning during urination. The child usually urinates drop by drop. It is circumcision for its treatment. However, steroid-containing creams can also be used for families who do not consider circumcision.
The method of peeling back and leaving again is applied under the name of phimosis relief. However, it is very inconvenient. The child suffers as much as if he had been circumcised, the skin sticks back together, and since it is performed without numbness, the child becomes afraid and the next circumcision procedure becomes more difficult. Sometimes families; My child applies with complaints such as swelling on his penis, inflammation at the tip of his penis. They are white, dense, pearl-like deposits called smegma (foreskin pearls) under the foreskin. Families are very worried in this situation, but it is completely normal. There is no obligation to clean these deposits called smegma. These discharge over time as the penis head separates from the foreskin.
PARHAPHYMOSIS
It is the inability of the foreskin to return to its previous state after being lowered from the glans. A ring-shaped compressive band is formed and the narrow prepuce opening can stifle the glans penis. It prevents the return of blood to the glans (head of the penis), causing sudden swelling of the glans and pain. initial In cases where imosis develops, the patient should be taken to the hospital or a doctor without delay. If not corrected urgently, the blood supply to the glans may be impaired or urination may be prevented. The event can be reversed under local or general anesthesia. If paraphimosis does not improve, circumcision may be required. It is an urgent and acute condition compared to phimosis.
