Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan gave important messages to the youth on the occasion of the 19 May Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day. Noting that the gift of May 19 to the youth is a serious indicator of vision, Tarhan drew attention to the importance of having social ideals. Stating that young people should not work only for themselves, Tarhan said, “My young friends should have ideals about the societies they live in, not personal. A man's effort is what his effort is, his capacity and strength are. His power, effort and effort will do great things if it is the society he lives in, if it is humanity. The real ideal should be to raise a healthy generation. Instead of building buildings, we need to focus on raising strong generations.” said. Tarhan, who said that the mind should be trained not to maintain the range, but to develop it, also said that those who focus on what can be done without imagining what can be a vision will be the second man. Üsküdar University Founding Rector Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan said, “The gift of this holiday to the youth is actually a sign of a serious vision. There is a saying that 'the society that directs the youth towards the good, the right, the beautiful, has directed its future towards the good, the right, the beautiful'. The real ideal is to raise a strong generation.” He said.
We need to train our minds not to protect the range, but to improve the range…
Psychiatrist Prof. . Dr. Nevzat Tarhan said, “This is normal, but those who support the status quo cannot understand it. In a certain generation, those who are not in the status quo understand the youth better, they can set a better example and guide them.” said. Tarhan continued his words as follows: “For example, Hz. Ali has a saying, "raise your children not according to the age you live in, but according to the age in which they will live." It is a great foresight. We need to raise children this way and prepare ourselves for it. Human beings do not leave what they are used to in order not to disturb their comfort. If he sees himself as successful and competent, he will keep his mind to keep constant range. is running it. However, we live in the age of reason, in such a time we need to train our minds to improve the range, not to maintain the range. After a while, status quo personalities have a distorted mind in the chronology we call anachronism. He is here, but his mind lives in a bygone age. Anachronic people stay in childhood and never want to grow up. It is necessary to say goodbye to childhood, to say goodbye to youth and to grow up like this. They cannot do that.”
Let's not go all or nothing
Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan also touched upon the difficulties experienced in the establishment of the Republic and criticized the approach that ignored the Ottoman Empire. Tarhan said, “We need to take the Ottoman Empire with its pluses and minuses and say goodbye to it and establish a new Republic. Because we don't agree, identity confusion continues in the conflict society right now. The people of Erzurum have a saying, 'Tulumcu', that is, they say 'all or nothing', 'either like us', or be right in front of me. Because it's not just black and white. There are also gray areas. The universe works with such probabilities. Therefore, let's not go to 'all or nothing', young people. This is the point of view that founded the republic. Let's see the pros and cons of the past, but look to the future, let's not get stuck in the past."
Science offers a method while searching for the truth
Expressing that people can be easily persuaded thanks to scientific soundness, Tarhan said, "Mustafa Kemal said, 'My spiritual heritage is reason and It is science, he says. I think this is the best word. He advocates adherence to scientific evidence, not dogmatic adherence. This is to catch the truth of the age. For this reason, it is accepted by young people. We need this today too. Science offers methods, if you use these methods while searching for the truth, you will be based on evidence. If you do not use it, it is said that you are just dogmatically attached, it will not be convincing. We are in the age of scientific soundness. Convincing people is easy when you present scientific soundness. This vision was also followed in the establishment of the Republic, they dissolved the parliament in Istanbul and set up the same one in Ankara, the vision was very important in this transition.” he said.
The board of the republic Stating that the dynamic in his work should be analyzed correctly, Tarhan said, “The objective evaluations of historians, not ideological prejudices, will further increase our respect for the Republic. For this reason, having a solid historical consciousness means knowing one's own background and personality. We all have strengths and weaknesses in our resume. We have faults. The important thing is to learn from mistakes and look to the future. For this reason, it is important that we look at this meaning behind when we say Atatürk's Commemoration Youth Day on 19 May. It is necessary to try to understand, to think about what he would have done if he had lived today."
What a person's effort is, his capacity and strength is his capacity
The struggle of good and evil is the Prophet's. Stating that he has been continuing since Adam, Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan gave the following advice to young people: “My most important advice to young people in such a period is that they should not work only for themselves. Let him have ideals about the societies in which he lives, not his personal ideals. A man's effort is what his effort is, his capacity and strength are. His effort is limited if his effort is his own ego. His power, effort and effort will do great things if it is the society he lives in, if it is humanity. For him, his ideal must surpass us, there must be an ideal of love. Such ideals push young people to do bigger, more important global work. They will also solve their problems of existence.”
Is there a bigger factory than raising an ideal, solid generation?
In developed countries, a large part of the budget is R&D Stating that he left for . Is there a greater factory than raising an idealistic, robust generation? Is there a bigger bridge? Is there a way? Raising a healthy generation is the real ideal. Instead of building buildings, we need to focus on raising strong generations. For this to happen, the vision, mission and values related to it must be determined. Vision: Dreaming of what a person can be, Mission: Focusing on what they can do. That's why, if you focus on what you can do without imagining what could be a vision, you'll only be a good second person, second guy."
If you want to be a leader, you have to set your vision
Tarhan defined the path of leadership for the youth on the occasion of 19 May Youth and Sports Day: “If you want to be a leader, to surpass yourself, that is, if you want to be a person who leaves a mark in life, you must first define your vision. In the vision there is the ego ideal and planning the future. Teamwork is required. Geniuses alone can't succeed, but team-builders can. However, they must also have ethical values. Being sincere, being sincere, being natural, loving people, being honest, hardworking, being a man of your word, being open and sharing… These are all ethical values. Teamwork is the most important spirit of this time.” said.
Man's only rival is himself
Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan finished his words with suggestions for the young people to have a much better life:
“Actually, the only rival of a person is himself. Laziness, laziness and lack of vision within ourselves are our rivals. That's why young people should not compare themselves with others and should not deal with other competitors. Let them set a goal for themselves, compete with their negative emotions and beat them. That's how they reach their goal. Americans have a good saying; Saying 'No pain, no gain'. In other words, "no pain, no suffering, no gain". Don't take it easy, guys. There is a law of psychology in life. Life gives its reward to those who endure hardship. Is there anything better than walking around with your head held high and living with dignity? You will earn by your hard work for this. Nobody should try to be a parasite. Let them win with their sweat. They will have a much better life.”
