During the reprocessing process, a bilateral stimulus is given and the brain is enabled to process the memory and become desensitized to the negative emotions in that memory. At the end of EMDR treatment, clients state that they no longer have negative physical and emotional reactions to anxiety-provoking situations and that they feel more comfortable. They even realize that they no longer need to avoid places and situations that they used to worry about and avoid. They indicate.
