Coronary artery disease, which is considered the disease of our age, unfortunately still maintains its place as the leading cause of death both in the world and in our country.
One of the most abused patient groups is coronary artery disease, as it affects a large number of individuals. have patients. Miracle drugs, which are constantly advertised on television programs and on the internet for this patient group, which is seen as a large market, are being marketed as cures for almost every problem.
We said that coronary disease most often causes death in adults, but of course the severity and form of this are different. It is not the same for individuals. In its diagnosis, many tests and, if necessary, coronary angiography are performed to reveal the condition of the vessels. As a result, either drug treatment is recommended to the patient or it is planned to open the vessels with a stent or bypass surgery. This decision is made in a multidisciplinary manner and is made by the cardiologist and cardiovascular surgeon by council decision. While trying to eliminate the patient's complaints with the drug treatment given to the patient, risk factors are also tried to be reduced. At the same time, it is necessary to treat additional diseases. The treatment process is followed, and as a result of some tests and examinations, the doses of the drugs are adjusted and the ideal treatment is found for the patient. The side effects of some medications are evaluated and if these occur, the medication is changed. While the treatment of heart patients requires such close monitoring and examination, it is claimed that so-called miraculous results are obtained with some herbal medicines marketed on television or the internet, without any examination and with all patients recommended at the same dose. These treatment models, which are not based on any scientific studies or evidence, cause patients to lose time, and unfortunately, when these patients are examined seriously, it is understood that most of their hearts are damaged.
For this reason, if our patients have problems with cardiovascular diseases, they should first consult hospitals with cardiology departments. They should have tests done and use drugs with adjusted doses, with known evidence-based side effects, in their treatment. If surgical intervention is required for their treatment, they must also undergo surgery. Currently, especially if there is diabetes, there is more than one vascular occlusion and it affects the heart muscle. Bypass surgeries are accepted worldwide as the most effective form of treatment for patients with liver disease. Let us repeat that the treatment of each patient is different and should be determined according to the joint decision of their doctor.
