Fungi, mites and their residues, moulds, bacteria, especially tuberculosis microbes and viruses, which are found in unventilated environments and multiply rapidly, threaten human life. There are bacilli, bacteria and viruses in the hundreds, sometimes thousands, of particles that come out of our mouths when we talk, cough and sneeze. These are called droplet nuclei. These can also remain suspended in the ambient air for hours. Medical sources recommend ventilating the environment by opening the windows 6 times in an hour. However, outdoor pollution, cold weather, sometimes the presence of air conditioning and the lack of opening and closing windows prevent this. Elevators that are unlikely to be ventilated, public toilets, two-storey houses facing downwards, billiards-bowling-game halls and night-time workplaces such as bars pose a more dangerous dimension for contamination. Most of our lives are spent in closed spaces such as schools, workplaces, public transportation vehicles, health institutions, shopping malls and coffee houses. These environments, and especially the inhalation of droplet nuclei, facilitate the transmission and spread of diseases. Especially in cases where ventilation is not taken into consideration in individual vehicle use, the droplet nuclei that come out of the person's own cigarette and when he/she speaks and coughs if he/she is sick, pose a life-threatening threat to those in the vehicle. The mold mixes these freshly settled particles back into the breathing air. Wet cleaning should be preferred in home cleaning, especially in healthcare institutions and, more precisely, in public areas. This happens with wet mopping and vacuum cleaners that trap dust in water rather than raising it into the air. There are bacteria and related types of pneumonia that grow in the air conditioner. For this reason, attention should be paid to home and vehicle air conditioners and their cleaning and maintenance should be taken into consideration. The use of masks should be encouraged, sensitive people and sick people should wear masks, and precautions should be taken to prevent the spread of droplets such as the use and disposal of paper tissues, washing hands and using hand disinfectant.
The phenomenon known as the common cold is caused by the cold affecting the back of the nose, larynx and hairs in the tissue covering the trachea This happens when the body and cells become disabled during the cold, and the microbes we call viruses settle here, multiply and invade, and turn the functions in this region to their advantage. Increased secretion, that is, cold, sore throat, sneezing and coughing, are signs of these. Although being cold and catching a cold can have such an effect, it is necessary to be afraid of catching a virus or catching a cold in the respiratory tract rather than the body. Therefore, the use of scarves and caps should also be recommended. For this reason, it is necessary for the environment to be at the optimum temperature. However, it is not always technically possible to maintain the optimal temperature, that is, 19-23 0C, and to ensure ventilation or oxygen balance. For this reason, mothers at home, teachers at school, and administrators at workplaces need to know these issues and pay attention to the health of our children and employees as much as possible.
Stuffy home environment and uncleaned houses also invite allergic diseases. Especially in sensitive people, inhalation of mite residues or the presence of pets can cause breathing problems such as asthma, allergic rhinitis and nasal polyps, and these diseases can cause serious respiratory failure and heart diseases in the future. Since high temperature and humidity may cause the growth of mites and allergenic mold fungi, the humidity should be kept around 45% and the temperature should not exceed 250C. Oxygenation of environments through ventilation is essential for a healthy life.
