Introversion appears as one of the characteristics that negatively affects children's social development. Many parents feel uncomfortable and worried about their child being introverted or shy. In fact, children who are introverted up to a certain limit should not scare their parents. Because parents' worry always causes the problem to become more intense rather than being solved. Parents need to rearrange their attitudes towards their children who they observe to be introverted. In other words, the first thing to do for introverted children is to develop a different approach to this situation.
MY CHILD IS AN INTRACTOR, HOW CAN I HELP HIM?
1-Understanding. Be careful and don't embarrass your child.
First of all, you must accept your child. Avoid being judgmental and critical towards him and his behavior. Show your child that you accept and love him/her in all aspects. Listen carefully to everything he says. Listening to him carefully will reinforce his emotional development and enable him to express himself more comfortably. Remember that shy and introverted children are much more sensitive, and be more attentive and sensitive in your attitude and behavior towards your child.
2-Be more supportive.
Your introvert child is more sensitive than other children. You should remember that he is sensitive and therefore needs your attention more. You should be sensitive about this issue and support your child more emotionally. This problem can be overcome with your support during childhood, but if it is neglected, your child may have to live as a person who has social difficulties in adolescence and adult life.
3-Set an example and teach. His school is actually his own home and family. All children primarily model their parents. You should have a special time for your child and give them the opportunity to observe you and your social relationships during this time. You can go to the market together, shop, and do some of the work you need to do with your child. Be a good model for teaching your child social relations and help him/her along with you. Support your child in this direction by giving him tasks that involve small social interactions.
4-Encourage him to make friends.
Friend relationships will support your child's socialization. Children love being together. Give your child the opportunity to meet with his peers. Support your child in this regard by frequently going to places where he can be with his friends. Take your child to places such as parks and playgrounds and support him/her in making new friends.
5-Do not tag your child and prevent him/her from being tagged.
You should avoid reactions such as telling your child that he/she is "shy" in front of others. Remember, an introvert child is overly emotional and sensitive. Your stigmatizing attitude may cause him to close himself off and have a negative experience. You should be careful about this.
6-Do not put pressure or pressure your child.
Do not force your child to an area other than where he feels comfortable and safe. This will disturb and hurt him greatly. Don't rub their shy attitude in their face and don't fall for them. It will always take time for children to get used to new situations and new environments. Remember that your child is growing slowly and will overcome such problems more easily with your support.
