I HAVE A PLAY, WHAT SHOULD I DO?
Palpitation is a very common health complaint in human life. It is often felt in situations of anxiety, loss disorders and stress and is not indicative of heart disease. It is best to consult a specialist to find out whether the palpitations are related to heart disease.
WHAT ARE HEART RHYTHM DISORDERS?
The heart is an organ that works regularly within a certain speed range. Heart rhythm disorder may be present if the heart beats accelerate, slow down, become irregular and are accompanied by palpitations. In such a case, it may be necessary to consult an expert.
HOW ARE HEART RHYTHM DISORDERS DIAGNOSED?
To diagnose heart rhythm disorder, your doctor will talk to you and get information about your complaints. Then, he will try to make the diagnosis with heart x-ray (ECG) and other heart tests (such as ECHO, HOLTER). Although it is sometimes very easy to make a diagnosis, in some cases, repeated examinations and an invasive procedure called electrophysiological study (EPS) may be required for correct diagnosis.
WHAT IS ELECTROPHYSIOLOGICAL STUDY (EPS)?
This procedure is sometimes required in the diagnosis of complaints such as palpitations and fainting. The procedure is generally based on detecting the electrical activity of the heart with special thin cables advanced to the heart through the groin veins. In this way, the causes of palpitations or fainting, if any, are revealed. The procedure requires a few hours of hospitalization and is performed with local anesthesia. By analogy, it is like coronary angiography performed to detect stenosis in the heart vessels.
HOW ARE HEART RHYTHM DISORDERS TREATED?
Treatment can be done by burning or freezing the foci that cause arrhythmia within the heart, i.e. ablation, or interventional methods such as implanting pacemakers or special pacemakers that deliver shocks.
WHAT IS ABLATION?
Ablation is a continuation of the electrophysiological study described above. Again, proceed to the heart using the inguinal veins. The problematic area is burned or frozen in millimetric diameters using special thin cables. Thus, the problem is tried to be eliminated. Ablation is a process similar to electrophysiology study. Sometimes, due to the nature of the arrhythmia, the process may take a little longer. In this case, sedative drugs are used to relax the patient.
WHAT ARE PACEMAKERS, SHOCKING PACEMAKERS, THREE-WIRED PACEMAKERS?
Pacemakers are used especially for low heart rate. They are used in the treatment of some rhythm disorders that lead to fainting and fainting. Three-wire pacemakers are used to assist treatment in some patients with heart failure. The procedure for all pacemakers consists of placing the battery cables under the collarbone into the heart and the battery itself under the skin in this area, accompanied by local anesthesia and sedative medications.
