WHAT IS MAKULA?

Macula (yellow spot) is the 3-4 mm central area in the center of the retina and provides colorful and sharp vision. We perform functions such as reading, writing and driving thanks to the macular dot. The vision cells in the macula region and the connection between these cells are very systematic and magnificent and work so flawlessly that they are astonishing.

WHAT IS A MACULA HOLE AND HOW DOES IT FORM?

Macula Holes usually occur as a result of aging. It is the body's response to aging, such as graying of hair or wrinkling of the skin. But this hole does not occur suddenly, but slowly and over months.

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF MACULA HOLE?

Since macular hole is a disease that develops slowly over months, sudden vision loss occurs. does not cause loss. The first stage of the disease causes distorted and blurred vision. As the hole progresses over months, serious losses in central vision occur. Especially driving and reading functions are severely impaired. Over time, distorted vision (metamorphopsia) and distortions in straight lines may occur. As time progresses, patients feel a weakening in the middle of their visual centers. If the disease progresses further, they feel a black spot (scotoma) in the middle of the visual center. Since the peripheral retina is intact, peripheral vision remains intact.
