When we look at gifted individuals in childhood, they make a difference compared to their peers with their high memory power, interest level, activity, perfectionist and idealist nature, focus, intense concentration and advanced language skills. Gifted children also have more advanced motivation, internal control and creativity skills than their peers. These children, who learn faster, earlier and in a different way than their peers, also have a different perspective and are more successful in complex cognitive activities, situations requiring reasoning and comprehension. From time to time, gifted children can be perceived differently by their environment, and their determination can be equated with stubbornness, and their excessive questioning can be equated with rebelliousness.
Gifted children, who manifest themselves from an early age, generally start speaking earlier than children with normal intelligence. While children are expected to make short two-word sentences at the age of 2, these children (gifted) have a wide language repertoire and can make more detailed sentences. Their rich vocabulary allows them to talk about more topics. Gifted children, whose receptive and expressive language skills are advanced, are good at comprehending complex and abstract concepts, analogies and establishing relationships. Gifted children, who have developed imagination and offer rational and original solutions when faced with problems, are seen as 'sources of information' by their classmates. Identifying the interests of gifted children, who manifest themselves in the pre-school period, by including them in a customized program from an early age, constitutes an important step for children's future planning.
