When you go to any doctor in the medical field, they ask you for certain tests. In order to more accurately diagnose malocclusion in orthodontic patients, some x-rays are requested by your doctor. The most important of these is the standard panoramic (OPTG) film. With this x-ray film, decayed teeth, missing teeth, wisdom teeth or cyst
-like formations are detected. These are extremely important in planning the treatment.
Secondary is the cephalometric film (lateral front). With the values obtained from these films using drawing programs developed for orthodontics, the orthodontist will be able to decide whether the problem is of skeletal origin or whether to extract teeth for treatment purposes.
