Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) disease, which has affected the whole world, it has been declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) after evaluating the contagiousness, spread and other risk factors of the disease. In our country, necessary precautions are taken in line with WHO recommendations. In this context, the Coronavirus Scientific Board established within the 'Ministry of Health' has stated that urgent and non-essential dental procedures should not be performed and postponed to a later date. The decisions taken by the Coronavirus Scientific Board regarding emergency applications in dentistry and dental service provision at its meeting dated 23.03.2020 are as follows:

It is recommended that transactions other than these be postponed throughout the COVID-19 outbreak or until a second statement is made by the Ministry. It is recommended that private dental offices, clinics and centers provide services other than those defined above as urgent for a period of time.
As an orthodontist, I recommend that orthodontic treatment applications and checks should be postponed and that it should not be a very urgent situation. I would like to emphasize that one should not go to clinics and clinics unless it is necessary. People who are receiving orthodontic treatment should definitely notify their physicians in cases of serious ingrown wires and serious swelling and pain in the mouth due to this. During this process, what our orthodontic patients need to do is to avoid food, drink or behavior that will trigger bracket ruptures, and to continue their oral hygiene without skipping brushing.
