ROSA DISEASE

Roza is a disease in which facial redness is prominent. This is where the name of the disease, rosa (rose), comes from, and this condition is also known as rosacea.

Redness and swelling are seen on the cheeks, forehead, chin and nose, being more common in the middle part of the face. Sometimes symptoms may involve the ears, back and chest. As the disease progresses, capillary dilatations and small red bumps similar to acne appear. These complaints may continue for many years, decreasing and increasing from time to time. As the disease progresses, facial redness becomes evident.

In some patients, the eyes are also affected by the disease and eye redness, burning, stinging and discharge, called conjunctivitis, may occur; Styes may develop. These conditions definitely require treatment.

Rosa is a disease most commonly seen in middle-aged and light-skinned women. However, this disease can also develop in men at a much earlier or older age.

The first symptoms may be redness and sensitivity on the face triggered by intense stress, sun, heat and cosmetic use. Pimples of various sizes and some with inflammation may be added to the symptoms. The use of alcohol, tea and coffee can also increase this condition. In later periods, this area appears larger due to the redness and thickening of the nasal skin.

Treatment

The cause of rosacea is a controversial issue. There are publications indicating that the parasite called demodex, which lives in the sebaceous glands or hair roots, plays a role in the formation of the disease. As a physician who has been paying special attention to rosacea for many years and has been monitoring and recording data on this disease, I believe that the parasite in question is the causative agent of the disease. In this regard, family history and parasite research by taking samples from the rash are of great importance in terms of distinguishing it from other skin diseases and treating it. I also observe that my patients with parasites respond very well to treatment.

Laser treatment is required when the patient has capillary dilation. When there is an eye complaint, the disease should be treated jointly with an ophthalmologist.
