Jung argues that humans have had a common, universal unconscious since the beginning of history, and that this unconscious has been passed on from generation to generation. He calls a number of models 'archetypes', which a person inherits from his ancestors at birth, without gaining any experience, and acquires through spiritual inheritance. One of these archetypes is ANIMA and ANIMUS
In other words, there is 'animus', the male ego in women, and men also have ANIMA. 'anima', the female self. In fact, JUNG says, in summary, 'every human being is bisexual'. The animus, which represents male emotions in women, is in the background in women, so feminine emotions are dominant in women. In men, the anima, which represents feminine emotions, is in the background and masculine emotions are dominant.
Although it may seem paradoxical that a man is not entirely a man and a woman is not entirely a woman. However, it is normal for a person to have both feminine and masculine tendencies. The most "manly" of men may be very gentle with children, or the most rational men may become passionately emotional in their private lives, lose control, and act both emotionally and irrationally. All of these are considered feminine characteristics in a man, which are more clearly called "effeminate". This hidden femininity in the man is a collective image of the woman that exists in the man's unconscious, his "anima" that helps him understand female nature. But it is only woman in general that man apprehends in this way. Because this image is an archetype, the centuries-long experience of men with women.
Although many women conform to this image, at least outwardly, this image does not in any way represent the true character of a woman as an individual. This image becomes conscious and palpable throughout the man's life, through his real relationships with women. A man's first and most powerful experience in shaping himself with a woman is his mother. There are men who cannot escape the fascinating influence of their mothers until the end. But the subjectivity of this experience is not only how the mother behaves, but how the child feels the mother's behavior. The image of the mother that every child has is not an accurate portrait of the mother, but a portrait that is revealed and colored by the "anima", the innate capacity to create an image of a woman. Then this image It will be reflected on the women that the man will be interested in throughout his life. Maybe every man will look for his Mother in every woman. Naturally, this will lead to countless misunderstandings. Because most men are not aware that they are directing the portrait of a woman in their minds to a different woman. This is why many relationships that are difficult to explain and marriages that end in disappointment occur. Since this reflection event cannot be controlled rationally, the man does not consciously do the reflection himself, it is an event that occurs spontaneously within the man. “Every mother and every lover has to be the bearer of this ever-present, eternal image that constitutes the deep reality inside the man.
