A Lost 'Nose'

Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure that combines science and art. It is possible to say that in experienced hands, very high patient satisfaction rates occur. The nose is an organ that attracts attention due to its external structure. Skin structure and other factors may further increase this prominence.

Every nose is unique. From an aesthetic-visual perspective, nasal dorsum height (arch nose) is the most common problem. I find it appropriate to talk about nose types by dividing them into 3;
Nasal back problems: Height-depression-width-curvature-extreme narrowness etc.
Nasal tip problems: Asymmetry-height-lowness-thickness-curvature-pointiness etc. .
Nasal wing and or hole problems: Asymmetry, thickness, width, etc.

Many patients have aesthetic problems in more than one region, and it is logical to correct these problems surgically at the same time (height at the root of the nose). There may be many different nose structures such as depression, very large or small nose, short-squat-long nose, excessively upturned nose structure, etc.).
Many of my patients who apply for an interview say that their self-confidence is affected due to their nose structure, when taking pictures, etc.

There are works on the nose that have examples both in aesthetic fine arts and in literature, and I would like to share one of them,

Literature - A Classic: 'Nose'
N. V. Gogol, one of the 19th century Russian writers.
Gogol started writing 'The Nose' in 1833. After finishing it in 1835, he sent it to the "Moskovski Nablüdatel" magazine, but received a rejection response. Later, it was published in the magazine "Savremennik" (1836).
The works of the author, who died at the age of 43, became classics such as Dikanka Meetings, The Trial, Taras Bulba, Dead Souls, The Inspector, Diary of a Madman, The Nose, Portrait, The Overcoat. stories, novels etc. It is located..

From the nose..
The first sentences of the book..; 'P. 'Ossipovna, I don't want coffee today,' she said. 'I'll have hot bread and onions instead.' He sat down at the table, cut two onions into slices, cut the loaf in half and sprinkled salt on it. Suddenly he was stunned by the white thing he saw: A nose! He couldn't believe his eyes - a nose, yes, that's right, a nose! Moreover, a familiar nose!
He was horrified.. But this horror , was nothing compared to his wife's disgust: “You monster! Whose nose did you cut off?!” cried his wife angrily. “You wretched drunkard! When you were shaving people, you were pulling their noses so hard that you were tearing them off!”
From the last sentences of this entertaining short work, loved as a surreal story; “We must not forget that our world is a place where extraordinary events occur. These are events that are sometimes thought to be completely improbable.” says Gogol.
