Among the psychological reasons, the perception of sexuality and virginity in society, inadequacy in sexual information, inexperience and taboos come to the fore. Denigration of sexuality, excessive meaning attached to the hymen, feeling pain at the first attempt or hearing it this way, a family that shames sexuality, not loving one's spouse, miscommunication, religious and moral dogmas also play an important role in the emergence of the problem.

HOW IS VAGINISMUS? DOES IT HAPPEN?
The situation that triggers vaginismus, which is based on fear of physical pain and associating sexuality with this pain, may be a past experience or the expectation of a pain that has never been experienced. Despite this, most of the time women do not have problems with arousal. Wetting of the vagina, called vaginal lubrication, may also occur and clitoral orgasm may also occur. However, the contracted muscles around the vagina do not allow intercourse.

This situation may cause thoughts of inadequacy, as well as avoidance of sexual intercourse and even the inability to become aroused after a while. The diagnosis of this disorder, which can cause a process between spouses that may lead to the end of the marriage, can only be made after a pelvic examination.

First of all, it is necessary to undergo a gynecological examination. If this situation occurs due to an organic reason, the physician informs the patient for the necessary treatment.
