Coronary Artery Disease

It is a disease that manifests itself with the deterioration of the nutrition of the heart muscle as a result of stenosis or obstruction in the vessels feeding the heart.

All vascular occlusions are the underlying '< It occurs as a result of a process called strong>'Atherosclerosis''. Atherosclerosis can be explained simply as calcification in the vessel. Plaque is formed by the accumulation and oxidation of fats (cholesterol, bad cholesterol) in the blood vessel wall. The plaque grows into the vessel. There is a narrowing of the vein. It prevents normal blood flow. Sometimes this plaque breaks and a clot forms inside the narrowed vessel. This causes a heart attack. Atherosclerosis vascular calcification is the main cause of all cardiovascular diseases.

CORONARY ARTERY DISEASE

Coronary arteries are the vessels that feed the heart. Because it surrounds the heart like a crown, they got the name coronary artery (artery) inspired by the word "corona".

Coronary arteriesright from the main aorta There are two, one and the left. These are the main veins. It is called the Left and Right Main vein. The stenoses and occlusions that develop in these vessels can cause problems that require urgent intervention.

Main veins are the veins that carry clean blood to the heart tissue, which then branch off and exit as coronary arteries. They travel above the heart and provide blood flow to the lower heart muscle (myocardium).

Stenosis in the Heart Vessels is called Coronary Artery Disease (CAD). The heart muscle cannot perform its functions as a result of a decrease in blood flow or its complete obstruction and cessation of the flow. This condition, in which blood flow is reduced and cellular disorders are observed, is called 'ischemia'. Another name of Coronary Artery Disease ''Ischemic Heart Disease'' can be reported as. These terms are used for the same disease.

Patients have a series of risks that begin with the complaint of "chest pain" and last until a heart attack.

The most common complaint is chest pain. constriction, squeezing, burning can also be seen.

Complete occlusion in the coronary artery can occur and if the blood flow cannot be restored, the heart muscle (myocardium) it feeds dies. The death of the tissue with inability to feed is called infarction. Its medical name thus becomes "Myocardial Infarction". This is a heart attack. It is life threatening. With the death of the heart muscle, its contractile functions decrease. that's the crux of it.

Decrease in contractile function means shortening of life expectancy.
