Should breastfeeding continue when starting solid foods?
Definitely yes.
Should there be a rush when starting solid foods?
Absolutely not.
The taste of the first feeding experience of my babies and their families, who were exclusively breastfed for the first 6 months, is indescribable.
Every baby is an individual, their feeding habits are different, so different behaviors are recommended.
Babies' stomach capacity grows as they grow. Therefore, the portions to be given are gradually increased, and the decision is made by monitoring the baby's digestive properties, hunger symptoms, foods he likes and dislikes, foods that may cause allergies. Breast milk should be given almost after every meal. If the baby does not want it, he should not be forced to give it. If any milk remains in the breast, it should be expressed and used during the day. Breastfeeding should be continued, especially at night. We know that breastfeeding at night positively affects milk production the next day.
What is the stomach capacity of babies?
The amount of calories that 6-9 month old babies will consume in addition to breast milk is 200 calories per day. 2-3 meals a day, 1-2 snacks and 2-3 teaspoons or 200 ml per meal are sufficient.
The amount of calories that 9-11 month old babies will consume in addition to breast milk is 300 calories per day. 3-4 meals a day, 1-2 snacks and half a bowl or 250 ml in 1 meal is sufficient.
For those aged between 1-2 years, the amount of calories they will consume in addition to breast milk is 550 calories per day. 3-4 meals a day, 1-2 snacks and up to a bowl or 300 ml per meal is sufficient.
I wish you healthy days.
