We started hearing about Corona or Covid-19 about a year ago, and the first cases began to appear in our country in March of this year. Subsequently, schools closed and a new era began for our children. The name of the new era for children is "Online or Distance Education". At first, the process was very difficult for each of us, as well as for our children. It was not easy for them to match the school phenomenon with the tools they play games or watch movies in, but since they are Generation Z and were born into technology, they adapted more easily than us adults. But different kinds of problems began to appear in the house. Unfortunately, constantly being in front of the screen or watching lessons on television has begun to negatively affect children's sustained attention. While our child uses all his senses effectively in the classroom environment, he has to make do with only his visual and auditory senses in front of the screen. Various behavioral problems, reluctance, and problems caused by not being able to socialize began to manifest themselves. Since online education will be in our lives for a long time, my suggestions to you as parents are;
-
Determine your daily routines while your child is at home, regardless of his age. Let online education hours, meal times, game hours and going out hours be determined.
-
While making this program, prepare it with your child so that it will be easier for him/her to implement it. Respect the activities and lessons that your child wants to add or remove.
-
Remember that since your child cannot interact with anyone during the day, he needs quality play time with you more than ever.
-
According to the weather conditions and your working status, going outdoors every day will make your child feel better.
-
Taking into consideration that your child will be easily distracted. Care should be taken to organize and simplify the environment in which children attend classes and not to overstimulate them.
-
This process is a process that wears us all out psychologically, so protecting our children in this process depends on your psychological strength and resilience. Do not hesitate to get help when necessary, remembering that it depends on your consent.
Hoping to reach healthy and virus-free days where we can normalize again with plenty of children's laughter and socialize, which our children need most, Best Regards
