Myth:
Women cannot breastfeed after breast implants or breast reduction.
Fact:
Those who are planning to become pregnant or have children and have had prior breast surgery ( breast enlargement or reduction) many women question whether they are suitable for breastfeeding. Despite the prejudices of some women, the answer is generally yes.
During breast augmentation surgery, breast implants are placed between the chest wall and your breast, and these implants are not placed in a way that would block the milk ducts or mammary glands that secrete milk. While some milk-secreting tissues are removed during breast reduction, in most cases, enough breast tissue is left to ensure milk production after surgery.
Breast surgery does not mean that you cannot breastfeed, but there is no guarantee that the mother will be able to produce a full supply of milk. If the type of incision used during breast surgery cuts the nerves that stimulate milk secretion in the breast and nipple, milk production may be limited.
It would be useful to seek advice from your breast surgeon and a lactation consultant before the surgery.
Breast augmentation. -It may be better to wait until you have a child to have a reduction or breast lift surgery, because the breast tissue will change after pregnancy, and the previous surgery may be disrupted and therefore a repeat surgical intervention may be required.
