Concept of Waves at Birth

Pain during birth is a nightmare for many mothers.

Is there pain during birth? Except for some women who say they gave birth without feeling pain, yes, there is pain during birth, but this is a different pain. This pain is very different from the pain we feel when there is damage to our body. This pain is actually a pain that does not hurt. As a result of the pushing of the uterine muscles, the baby's head creates pressure on the cervix and surrounding tissues. This is the main source of pain in birth. However, it may increase or decrease depending on different cultures, beliefs and the mother's fears. It is up to you to choose whether to perceive these different sensations as a source of serious pain or as just pressure by transforming them in your mind.

We do not use the word pain much in our training. Because the words pain and ache trigger negative images in the mind and create negative effects on the mother. Instead, we prefer the word wave. In this way, we take a good step with positive words before birth even begins. Indeed, when you compare birth contractions with the pain or painful situations we feel in daily life, you can see that they are very different.

Pains and pains are always there after they come. However, birth waves do not come suddenly, contrary to what is often portrayed in the media. It comes slowly. It's like a wave. It reaches its peak in about 30 seconds and slowly returns. So, with the start of the wave, your baby gives you time to prepare. Even if you have difficulty, this is the 10-20 second part of the wave, which is the peak. It will be very easy to overcome this difficult part with appropriate breathing and focus exercises.

Another feature that makes these waves different from pain is that they are intermittent. So, at the end of the one-minute contraction period, you will have approximately two minutes of rest. While your baby is resting, it also gives you time to recharge. At the end of this period, a new one-minute working time will be waiting for you. While your baby and uterus are working in harmony, you can help them by relaxing yourself, thus working in harmony with the waves. In other words, in an average 10-hour labor, you will have approximately 3 hours of working time, the rest is z. In Amanda, you will have the chance to rest.

Another feature of the waves is that they are purposeful and have a certain duration. However, classic pains do not have a certain duration and have no purpose other than identifying the painful point. Your baby uses uterine contractions to reach you. Each contraction will bring your baby one step closer to you. Each contraction has a sacred purpose; To allow passage to the baby by opening the cervix. After these contractions, your baby will be born and will be in your loving arms waiting for him. At this moment, suddenly all the pain will end. All that will remain is enthusiasm, a huge burst of energy, and your baby's big eyes looking at you so vividly. Thanks to the oxytocin hormone secreted during a natural birth, all the discomfort you feel will be forgotten.

Pains occur in illness. However, birth is not a disease but a natural physiological action. If this act of birth were inherently very painful, it would be inevitable for all mammals to give birth while writhing in pain. However, when we look at the births of mammals where the same common nervous system works at birth, isn't it surprising to see that they all complete their births in silence?

I can almost hear you now; Yes, we can change our perception of pain in labor and face the waves of birth more easily. We understand it in theory, but what should we do in practice?

  • Learn to breathe slowly and deeply. Exercise every day and try to breathe more and more slowly.

  • Use this slow breathing in labor to meet the waves.

  • Be sure to focus and relax with each wave. So leave the other muscles of your body loose. You already have a working uterine muscle. Let it use all the oxygen.

  • Repeat affirmation sentences in your mind while breathing slowly and deeply in each wave. For example; “Each wave brings my baby closer to me.” “With each wave, my cervix opens like a flower and allows my baby to pass.” “My baby and my uterus are working in harmony.” You can also create your own sentences.

  • How you can easily dance with the waves with just breathing and focus Believe me, you will be surprised when you see the trace. Especially when you see that you have succeeded and believe that you can do it, you will feel the power to give birth within you and believe in yourself and your baby. After that, you will meet your baby more upright, with faith and love.

As long as you change your perceptions now, believe in the power of birth and what it brings to you and your baby...
