There can be many different causes of low back pain. There are many reasons, from muscle strain to infection, abdominal organ diseases or tumors. For this reason, low back pain must be taken into consideration. Assoc. Prof. from Medicana Bursa Hospital Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Center. Dr. Özlem Solak says, "Don't just dismiss it as ordinary low back pain."
Almost every person complains of low back pain at some point in their life. It is one of the most important reasons that limit daily life activities between the ages of 19-45. Low back pain is more common in people who engage in heavy physical activity at work or work in the same position for a long time, work leaning forward, or lift and carry weights. Additionally, rotating the waist and torso while keeping the hips fixed is one of the movements that puts the most strain on the waist. We can define personal risk factors for low back pain: If a person has a sedentary lifestyle with little movement and lack of conditioning, has weak back muscles, is overweight, and smokes, he/she is more likely to experience low back pain than other people. In order to better explain the causes of lower back pain, I would like to briefly talk about lower back anatomy. The spine consists of 24 vertebrae that articulate with each other. 7 of these vertebrae are in the neck, 12 in the back, and 5 in the waist. Vertebrae consist of the vertebral body and posterior structures. The spinal cord passes through the channel between them. It increases with the data that controls the movements of our right and left leg muscles from the canal in the joint area of each vertebra with the posterior elements of the other vertebra.
Canal Stenosis
Spinal cord and nerve roots It is the narrowing of the spinal canal through which it passes. Reasons include structural narrowness of the canal, excessive calcification of the joints surrounding the spine, and slipping of the vertebrae over each other. Apart from the reasons listed above, the following diseases may also cause low back pain, and low back pain must be evaluated by a specialist physician. Inflammatory rheumatic diseases (e.g. Ankylosing spondylitis), diseases and inflammations of the organs in the abdomen (e.g. urinary tract inflammation), vertebral bone fractures due to osteoporosis, infectious diseases such as Brucella and Tuberculosis. r. Nerves that provide sensation pass through. Vertebrae bodies articulate with each other through discs. Discs are soft cushions that separate the vertebrae from each other and absorb the load on them.
The core of each one has a gel consistency and the outer part is protected by being wrapped with thicker fibers. There are strong muscles and ligaments in the waist area that enable movements and protect the structures. There can be many different causes of lower back pain. There are many reasons, from muscle strain to infection, abdominal organ diseases or tumors. For this reason, low back pain must be taken into consideration. Among the most common causes of low back pain, we can list lumbar strain, herniated disc, calcification, lumbar slippage and canal stenosis.
WAIST STRAIN
During daily tasks (bending forward). It occurs as a result of excessive strain on the lower back muscles and ligaments (such as heavy lifting). There is a contraction (spasm) in the waist muscles and this restricts back and forth waist movements. The pain increases with movement and decreases with rest. Most patients return to their normal daily activities in 3-5 days. In treatment; Rest, painkillers, muscle relaxants, and physical therapy applications help.
HEART HERNIATED
As a result of mechanical pressure, the gel-like fluid inside the discs between the vertebrae is damaged. The pressure increases and moves outward from one side, causing a condition called herniated disc. There are 4 degrees of herniated disc: Bulging: Slight bulging of the intra-disc fluid, Moderate hernia (protrusion): Intra-disc fluid progresses a little further, stretching the retaining ligaments in the middle and compressing the nerve roots, Complete hernia (extrusion): Intra-disc fluid. It progresses further and tears the ligaments, putting pressure on the nerve roots. Sequestered disc: The herniated disc piece breaks off and remains in the spinal canal as a free object.
CALCIFICATION
Middle age Another cause of lower back pain is calcification due to wear and tear on the vertebrae and discs. In arthritis, there is significant back pain and stiffness, especially when first standing up after sitting and when getting out of bed in the morning.
