Children and Electric Shock

Electric shock is a home accident that can cause dangerous and fatal consequences. The danger begins after babies start crawling. The biggest dangers are electrical outlets, cords, plugs and phone charging cables. For this reason, protective covers should be installed on all sockets, the open ends of extension cables should be covered, and phone charging cables should not be left in the socket.

If the child is electrocuted and the child is still in contact with electricity, the electricity must be cut off from the electrical panel without touching the child.

If this cannot be done, the child should be removed from the electrical source with the help of a piece of wood or dry thick fabric.

The severity of an electrical burn varies depending on the duration of contact between the body and the electricity, the strength and type of the current, and where the electricity enters the body.

Electric Burns are deep and although they may seem small from the outside, they can be more severe inside.

If the general condition of the child is good, nothing should be applied to the burn area, cold should be applied, covered with a dry sterile cloth and applied to the burn area as much as possible. You should contact the Emergency Service as soon as possible.
