Authoritarian parent, Neglectful parent, Permissive parent and democratic parent. If you ask which one is right for raising a healthy child, only the democratic parenting style will positively affect our child's personality development. Unfortunately, the other 3 styles are parenting styles that can negatively affect our child's personality development.
Being authoritarian will not only prevent our child from individualizing and thinking freely, but will also shake his self-confidence. Unfortunately, those who have low self-confidence, a perception of threat and punishment from the outside world, and at the same time, no longer understand this language. This may cause them to become habitual individuals. These individuals can behave authoritarianly in the same way with those they perceive as having less power than their own, but they can also be crushed under the authority of those they perceive as having greater power than their own.
Being negligent towards our child ensures the formation of his or her unsatisfied needs. These needs can be both physical and emotional needs. For this reason, individuals may feel constant hunger. They may also have behaviors such as excessive hunger and frequent feeding in order to satisfy their emotional needs, love, and attention. In addition, they can do many things to gain this attention and love. As a matter of fact, since they are used to being treated negligently, they may find people who treat them in this way and fall into the illusion that they actually love them.
Permissive parenting style causes our child to perceive himself as different from others, sometimes to show narcissistic behavior, to limit his boundaries. It may cause him/her not to know and experience various problems in social life in the future. They can turn into individuals who think they have the right to everything, have difficulty complying with the rules, and have problems with social and social norms.
When we behave in a democratic manner, we help them develop self-confidence, make their own decisions, as well as understand the causes and consequences of their behavior, and help others. We support the child to behave in the same way and to distinguish positive or negative behaviors coming from outside in a healthy way.
All of these may be possible consequences of the parenting style we choose. please pay attention Let's be brave and let's not forget that our children will grow up in the future and that they are individuals too. While treating them, let's always ask ourselves how we would want to be treated if we were children, and act accordingly. Maybe we didn't have the chance to choose our own parents, and maybe we weren't treated the way we wanted, but we have the chance to choose our own parenting style. Think again about what kind of parent you want to be.
