When addiction is mentioned in life, the first thing that comes to mind is alcohol and substance addiction. However, addiction is examined on two levels: Factual (Behavioral) and Material. Gambling addiction, food addiction, people addiction, sports addiction, technology addiction, anger addiction, shopping addiction and workaholism are among the factual addictions. In addictions that occur as a result of the use of chemical and synthetic substances, people become addicted to their own hormones (peptides) that they secrete as a result of the reactions caused by the substances used. In behavioral addictions, the tool used may sometimes be a food, sometimes a person, sometimes a computer. For example, in food addiction, a person may consume carbohydrates uncontrollably when they need to calm down, or a person addicted to gambling; He can continue betting whether he wins or loses. Regardless of the type, addicted individuals have common behavioral patterns. These are;
Wanting more than desired
Trying to stop addictive behavior
Spending a long time for addictive behavior in active life
For addictive behavior giving up something
Continuing the addictive behavior even if it hurts others
Trying to achieve the same effect
Experiencing a withdrawal syndrome
Trying to eliminate deprivation. can be listed.
Addiction is a chronic brain disease and changes the functioning of the brain over time. The brain accepts the changing functioning as if it were a normal process. The addict may now begin to give commands to repeat the behavior. People may experience withdrawal when they cannot fulfill their addictive behavior. After a while, deprivation begins to have a similar motif for the addicted person as a hungry person's need to search for food. Although addictions are listed under certain headings, each addicted individual has his or her own diagnosis because the hormones secreted by each person are unique.
